Forming part of a luxury wellness retreat, Hestia have designed a hammam which adapts Turkish tradition to modern Western sensibilities. Home to a relaxation ritual involving different types of water and air at varying temperatures, it is the centrepiece of the spa experience.

With an unassuming entrance, guests enter to the hushed silence of the softly lit space, formed from hand carved natural stone, concrete and soft marble finishes. The architectural elements of the space work in harmony to encourage a sense of calm and relaxation.

The focus of the space is the central heated marble slab above which a large skylight allows the space to be flooded with the warmth of the sun by day and cool moonlight at night. This creates an ever-evolving experience as the mood and appearance of the space changes  throughout the day depending on the position of the sun and the moon.

With a considered, minimal palette throughout, the materials have been thoughtfully selected with a focus on tactility and the way in which they interact with moisture, shadow and light.

The hammam includes four different water experiences; a steam room, sauna, a plunge pool and rain shower. Each room is finished with refined minimalist details, complemented by traditional brass dressings as well as hand selected products and textiles.
